  • About Meals On Wheels Wayzata Plymouth

Wayzata Plymouth Meals on Wheels is a meal delivery service to people who are elderly, homebound and/or have difficulty preparing their own meals. The first Meals on Wheels programs in the Twin Cities started in the early 1970’s by individuals who identified that the primary reason many persons were unable to stay at home was their difficulty in meal preparation. The Wayzata Plymouth Meals on Wheels program is an independent non-profit organization with its own board of directors, supporters and constituencies. The program provides a nutritious noon time meal, Monday through Friday. The meals meet one-third of the daily-recommended dietary allowance. Extra meals may also be arranged for customers on the weekend. Accommodations are made for persons with special dietary needs (low salt, diabetic). Our volunteers delivering meals also provide a daily wellness check, thus playing another vital role in the healthcare continuum. Allowing persons to remain in their own homes not only helps to maintain their dignity and sense of self-reliance, but it is a remarkable cost-savings compared to other care options.

How we can help you get through the Coronavirus Pandemic?

As we face the Coronavirus Pandemic together, we're doing our best to ensure our most vulnerable neighbors continue to receive the nourishment they rely on from Meals on Wheels.

For those getting or needing Meals on Wheels, we're working to ensure safe delivery of your food. Some of our delivery sites will transition to less frequent delivery of more meals to help reduce interactions between volunteers and recipients. We're also implementing delivery procedures to ensure a safe distance is maintained between the volunteer and recipient.

With many clients preferring bulk shipments of meals at this time, we wanted to remind you all that we have 5- and 7-packs of frozen meals available.

If you need to make changes to a current client's service delivery, please call or email us.
